above estimate may be reduced to $150,000.

Section 185. There are at present 98

buildings in Victoria erected over the entrances to streets

or lanes. It is not probable that more than 2 or 3 of these

will be demolished yearly. Ten thousand dollars per annum

will probably suffice for compensation under this head.

Section 188. This section involves the

payment of compensation with the next 10 years for loss of

storeys consequent upon the reduction of the height of build-

ings on re-erection. Six hundred and Sixty-two storeys will

be sacrificed under this section, but probably not more than

600 of them will have to be paid for, as the section provides

no compensation for floors that are unfit for human habita-
